Lombard Street/Coit Tower Loop

Today we checked off a lot from our list. Started by driving into town over the Bay Bridge. Nothing unusual, but all the tourist lists have it on them.
As we were driving down Lombard, I was told it was kind of scary, and told not to take photos on the way down. It was pretty empty. No line at the top, just a lot of people clogging the intersection at the bottom. We parked by SFAI (San Francisco Art Institute, my Alma Mater) and walked back to Lombard St. from there and then continued on from there.
We crossed over to Telegraph Hill and onto Coit Tower. Heard the parrots of Telegraph Hill, but there were too many trees to see them. I actually paid to ride the elevator to the top. This was a first for me. I had no idea that the center roof is open on top. It's really beautiful looking up. And the view isn't bad either.

All the window ledges had coins that people had tossed, or dropped through the window slats. I'm not sure why they do it, but it's fun figuring out where they all come from.
We left Coit Tower down the back way and walked down the Greenwich Steps. I love it back there, all the secret gardens. From there we covered part of Fisherman's Wharf for lunch. Saw the Bush Man scare some girls. I forgot how funny he is. And it's amazing the people can be so clueless that 40 people are all focused on the same point in front of them.

Had lunch at Boudin. Was happy to see that they offer Tomato Soup in a bread bowl. My daughter really wanted one. On the way to our final destination we looked at some street artists, saw an army of silver guys and walked in Aquatic Park.
Mmmmm, Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory. Delicious and the perfect end to our day. All we had to do was walk back to SFAI. It felt like we walked 6 miles, but turned out to only be 3 or so. I'm sure it was all the uphill.

2012 Tourist in My Hometown

When my daughter told me she hadn't walked across the Golden Gate Bridge, I was shocked. My mom would take me all over. We covered every neighborhood and tourist destination (except the top of Coit Tower and Alcatraz). So, realizing how neglectful I've been of taking her around and making sure she has experienced all the great parts of San Francisco, caused me a little guilt.

I've decided that this year, her 13th, I'll remedy the situation. Welcome to the 2012 Tourist in my Hometown Event.
New Years Day we walked across the Golden Gate Bridge and back with some friends. It was a beautiful day. We only had to battle the wind around the towers. Is it a tradition to walk the bridge New Years Day, because it seemed like the whole world was out there. Even so, we're going to need to do this again. Might even walk to Sausalito like my mom and I used to do.

It's a little late but I wanted to share how the 80's zombie costume came out. Trick-or-treating was a blast. They came home with brimming sacks and sugar highs.

I've been working on finishing up the Tea Leaves Cardigan that I started over Spring Break. Just one and a half sleeves and the center fronts to finish. If I can find time to work on it I should have it finished by the end of the week.

I joined the Holiday Traditions Exchange. Anie over at Sweetbug Farm has graciously taken over hosting the swap this year whileMeg, at Sew Liberated, attends to her pregnancy. I've received my partner and am filled with ideas to make. I'll narrow it down while I finish the cardigan.

for August

I just finished this costume for an almost 2 year old I know. He loves vehicles and what better way to show it than to be a road. I was reminded of a costume I saw a few years ago and then I came across others online, so I decided to make my own version. Not only does he get to wear cars, but they are attached with velcro so he can play with them all night.
